Max Markowitz is a graduate of California Institute for the Arts and is most famous for being one half of the experimental music duo ing. The duo has had a month-long residency at Dangerous Curve and an extensive series at Machine Project. The latter also featured them at artLA 2007. The duo also was curated by Abby Sher to play the Edgmar, and toured NYC with Mad Gregs. They have several recordings out, including seven ing albums: "one" through "six," plus "you can see it here, flashing." They consider their best performance an over-the-top musical adaption of "Moby Dick," done at this year's West Hollywood Book Fair. Markowitz is also in the 15 piece folk/rock ensemble Learning Music and is the leader of an experimental pop group called Video.
Markowitz grew up in the visually sophisticated environment of his father artist Barry Markowitz. Max has now had a one person show at Dangerous Curve in Los Angeles and a two person show with his father at Matrushka Construction in Silverlake in July of 2008. In fact, they have exhibited together before; they did an art installation, "The Daily Reveal," at the Santa Barbara Contemporary Arts Forum in 1987. Max has won various art awards, including first place in Onyx Cafe's Coffee Cup Art Contest.
